Limestones generally come in soft beiges and tans.
They are perfect for bathrooms, fireplaces, counters
and flooring where a more informal decor is desired.
Limestones are sedimentary rocks that are formed at
the bottoms of lakes and seas, as silt and organic
matter settle to the bottom. As more layers build
up over the course of millions of years, the weight,
heat, and pressure cause chemical reactions to take
place to compact the sediments into solid stone.
Care does need to be taken when choosing limestone.
High-traffic areas or kitchen countertops may expose
the stone to substances that degrade the stone.
Limestone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer
to prevent stains from penetrating into the stone.
